RemoteLock Announces Integration with SmartThings Z-Wave Hub

RemoteLock is excited to announce its new integration with the Aeotec SmartThings Z-Wave Hub, providing property managers and vacation rental owners a more reliable, secure way to manage Z-Wave smart locks. This integration replaces the former Vera solution and offers expanded support for four popular Z-Wave devices:

  • Schlage Connect
  • Kwikset SmartCode
  • Yale Assure with Z-Wave Plus
  • Yale Pro 2

The Benefits of Integrating the SmartThings Hub and RemoteLock

The SmartThings Z-Wave Hub allows property managers to automate and control smart locks from anywhere, using RemoteLock's cloud-based platform. With this integration, users benefit from the extended range, wall penetration, and reliability of Z-Wave technology, which is ideal for larger homes or multifamily buildings where Wi-Fi can struggle with congestion. The integration helps streamline operations by automating access codes for guests and temporary visitors, all while reducing battery consumption, as Z-Wave technology uses less power than Wi-Fi-based solutions.

How Z-Wave Technology Enhances Reliable Access Control

The SmartThings Z-Wave Hub creates a reliable mesh network, ensuring consistent communication between smart devices across larger properties. The Z-Wave Hub connects to the internet through either Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection, then uses a different frequency than Wi-Fi to create a network that offers better range, penetration, and reliability than Wi-Fi. On properties where Wi-Fi struggles to cover the whole building, Z-Wave is often a more stable, long-term solution.

Large vacation property that requires a Z-wave hub to extend wi-fi to adequately manage and monitor the smart locks on their doors.

Additionally, by using RemoteLock with SmartThings, users gain more advanced access control features, such as automatic code generation for guests, enhancing the guest experience through contactless check-ins and check-outs.
