How this Boutique Hotel Offers a Seamless Stay with RemoteLock

Nestled in the heart of West Sussex, the SleepEco Inn is redefining boutique hospitality. This award-winning hotel, housed in a repurposed library, seamlessly blends historic charm with cutting-edge technology. By embracing full access automation with RemoteLock, SleepEco Inn achieves operational efficiency while offering guests a unique, hands-off experience — akin to having their own city-center apartment.

A Vision of Zero-Interaction Hospitality

From the outset, founder Andy Sparsis had a bold vision: to operate a hotel that provides exceptional service without traditional staff. “Good customer service is zero service,” Sparsis explained. “Guests don’t want to call a manager or wait at a check-in desk. They just want to get on with their stay.” With this philosophy in mind, SleepEco Inn uses RemoteLock’s access control technology to provide guests with seamless entry and exit, eliminating the need for a front desk.

Key codes are generated automatically upon booking confirmation and sent to guests via email. “We’ve even tailored the experience for our regulars,” Sparsis shared. “They have bespoke codes that stay consistent with each visit, making it feel like their own apartment.” This thoughtful touch has helped build a loyal customer base.

Operational Efficiency Drives Profitability

With only nine rooms, each uniquely designed, SleepEco Inn maintains 80% occupancy year-round and peaks at 100% during summer. The hotel operates with just one or two cleaners, maximizing profit margins. Sparsis credits RemoteLock’s integration with their PMS, Room Raccoon, for this streamlined operation.

“If we didn’t have RemoteLock, we’d need a check-in desk and part-time staff,” Sparsis said. “That would cost us over £30,000 annually. Instead, we’re able to reinvest those savings into the guest experience.”

The hotel’s automation extends to checkouts, a traditionally time-consuming task. By integrating RemoteLock with the hotel’s checkout button — a new RemoteLock product currently being beta tested in the UK — the hotel can instruct cleaners to begin turnover earlier, saving two hours per day. Sparsis noted, “The feature makes a big difference in efficiency.”

Enhancing Guest Privacy and Independence

The SleepEco experience is intentionally designed to feel private and self-sufficient. Guests can access their rooms and shared spaces without needing to interact with staff. Sparsis recalled one instance where he remotely assisted a guest from a mountaintop in Cyprus. “I adjusted the room temperature, guided them through the check-in process, and even offered a late checkout — all without being on-site.”

This hands-off approach has earned rave reviews. “Guests often say it’s like having their own flat,” Sparsis said. “They value the independence and privacy our system provides.”

Automation for a Sustainable Future

In a challenging hospitality landscape, SleepEco’s model represents a sustainable alternative. “Staff costs are driving many hotels out of business,” Sparsis observed. “Automation is the only way forward. By using RemoteLock, we’re staying ahead of the curve and maintaining profitability.”

The Future of Boutique Hospitality

As automation becomes the norm, hotels like SleepEco Inn offer a glimpse into the future of hospitality. With RemoteLock’s technology, the Inn combines historic charm with modern convenience, delivering a guest experience that is both private and effortless.
